After about 3 weeks I noticed the valve would continue to run ever so slightly even after it should have shut off. The running water sound was not a problem with the flapper because it was also brand new. Water was running into the overflow tube indicating the issue is definitely with the valve.I should mention the second toilet in my house is a Toto. Toto uses the same valve as the Korky (Lavelle Industries). I've owned the Toto for 6 years and have had to replace the fill cap on the toilet valve twice. When the fill cap starts to fail on a Korky it will cause water to still trickle through the valve which was exactly the same symptoms I was having with this new valve. Thinking my new Quietfill valve perhaps had a defective fill cap I went out and bought a replacement cap at Lowes. Replacing it returned the valve to normal operation but only for a short time. After... I replaced 3 defective FluidMaster 400's (and will do 3 more ASAP with Korky Quietfill) due to leaking water into the bowl, internal over-flow due to lousy design of the float adjuster, or the float sticking (not sliding up the tube to shut off the water).I was reluctant to buy Korky due to its name, but a defective replacement FluidMaster drew me to try it. Korky works excellent, quiet, efficient, and adjusts in height with a simple twist. Time will tell, but with a 5 year warrantee they must think highly of their product. I strongly recommend replacing your flapper (No. 818 comes with a silicone flapper and chain), and replacing the water supply tube with a braded steel type to reduce the risk of a burst while away from home (made for most all toilets, sinks, and cloths and dishwashers) . It is simple to do when you replace the toilet fill valve, and you just need a... I purchased this primarily because it said it was "quiet" and because it had the longest warranty available (at least among those available at my local store). The installation was SUPER easy - I'm a woman and very DIY, but I was still surprised this took only a few moments. Almost took me longer to get the old one out than to install this one. I did have a slight problem the first day when I walked into the bathroom and heard the smallest running water sound - took off the tank cover and suspected I'd left the fill tube too long and it was trying to siphon, even though this fill valve clearly has "anti-siphon" stamped on the top. I shortened the fill tube and that took care of the sound/problem. This does fill the tank QUICKLY, but quiet? I don't know - I don't find it to be any quieter than the... Read more |
